Middlesex County Cricket Club have responded to the controversial decision to deduct the club two points that effectively relegated them from Division One of the county championship.
The Seaxes were docked for their slow over rate during their first-class clash with Surrey at the Oval in August after the match was abandoned after a crossbow bolt was fired onto the pitch.
The club appealed against the loss of points but a decision by the Cricket Discipline Committee that rejected it.
Middlesex chief executive Richard Goatley said: “While we still believe the imposition of the penalty was unjust, we accept the decision and will move on. We do not believe that any further action is in the interests of Middlesex or the wider game.
“We will now focus on regaining a place in the 1st Division at the earliest opportunity.”
Next season will be the first back in the second tier of the County Championship for Middlesex since they won the Division Two title in 2011.
