Reigning champions Hampstead slipped into the bottom two as a 10-wicket home defeat to Richmond left them with four losses from their opening five games in the Premier Division of the Middlesex County League.

Captain Steve Clark (16) and tail-enders Archie Fellowes (15) and Zain Rizvi (12) were the only members of the home side to reach double figures as the Lymington Road outfit were skittled for 72 – and Richmond’s opening pair reached the target in just 10 overs.

Chairman Nick Brown said: “I hope this proves to be the nadir of our season. We just got blown away – when confidence is low these things tend to happen.

“There’s no panic, we still believe we have enough quality to turn things around. Maybe the move to the longer format will give us a bit of time to breathe in the middle as it really is the batting that needs to start firing.”
