Middlesex bowler Steven Finn remained positive after seeing 17 wickets fall on the first day of their match with Durham.

Having dismissed their Division Two rivals for 147, Middlesex slumped to 87-7 in reply as ball dominated bat.

But despite admitting his side were behind in the grand scheme of things, Finn is hoping they can enjoy better of it on Wednesday, saying: "I'd say we are slightly behind the game at the moment given the conditions that we batted in, but with a bit of sunshine and some good batting conditions we can get somewhere close to their score.

"We have to bowl well when we bowl again. It is a bit frustrating to be where we are but we can still fight our way back in.

You may also want to watch:

"They bowled nicely, but we know the cloud conditions here at Lord's play a big part. If you hang in long enough to get your rewards then you do."

Finn claimed 4-41 to lead the Middlesex attack, as Tim Murtagh (3-32), James Harris (2-33) and Miguel Cummins (1-38) also had success.

And he revealed some changes had paid dividends, adding: "It felt alright. I've made a slight tweak to my run-up that I worked on during the week towards the back end of the T20s, so I felt in a nice rhythm.

"I thought we bowled well as a unit. I thought Miguel bowled really nicely and James Harris and Tim Murtagh as well.

"We were a good cohesive unit. I was the one lucky enough to get the wickets but it will be someone else I'm sure."
