Harman Drive club saw half-centuries from Steven Martin and Shailen Assani, while Robert Nelson took five wickets

Brondesbury skipper James Overy was content to avoid a third straight defeat in the Middlesex County Premier Division after their trip to Teddington ended in a draw.

The Harman Drive outfit closed on 265-6 after winning the toss and electing to bat as Steven Martin (87) and Shailen Assani (70) both notched half-centuries.

Robert Nelson then took 5-74 with the ball, but the hosts ended their innings on 229-7 to avoid defeat.

Brondesbury, though, were able to claim a ‘winning draw’ and collected five points for their efforts, which Overy feels was just rewards for their display.

“It was tough to bowl on second as the pitch didn’t offer much for seamers,” said Overy.

“If you wanted to bat for a draw, it was feasibly for you to do that as we saw with the Teddington innings.

“It was nice, though, to stop the rot and hopefully we can use the confidence boost from that going forward.”
