Brondesbury slipped out of the promotion spots after a four-wicket defeat at Harrow St Mary’s – and Hornsey were unable to capitalise as they drew with Indian Gymkhana.
Bron declared on 172-7 after 51 overs, but their hosts reached 173-6 in reply, with Ajay Soni hitting an unbeaten 76.
That opened the door for Hornsey, who started the day three points outside the top two – but they could only pick up two points in a losing draw away against Gymkhana.
Captain Paul Weekes hit an unbeaten 72 in Hornsey’s total of 151-8 declared, and the home side posted 139-8 in reply.
Brondesbury slipped into third place and Hornsey dropped to fourth as Barnes won at Enfield and leapfrogged both sides, taking the second spot behind leaders Finchley.
Elsewhere, in Division Three, South Hampstead secured the lion’s share of the spoils in their draw at bottom side Kenton – the first time they have avoided defeat on the road this summer.
Sagar Patel hit 56 as SH declared at 267-7, and Jamal Ahmed then took 4-48 but Kenton finished on 134-6. It leaves South Hampstead 21 points above the drop zone and 19 outside the promotion spots.
