Channing School's Amelia Chan won the Under-13 girls' title as the Jack Petchey Schools' Table Tennis singles finals were held at Brunel University on Saturday.
Over 90 players representing 41 schools from across London and Essex gathered for the prestigious competition – and Chan beat Patricia Ianau from Barnet’s St James Catholic School 11-9, 11-5, 11-3 to win her event.
The 13-year-old, who has been playing table tennis for three years and is ranked seventh in the country in the Under-15 age group, said: “I like winning this competition and its good because you get to play different people and make friends.
“I can’t wait to watch table tennis at the Olympics. That’s what I want to do one day.”
Players and spectators were treated to an exhibition match between England internationals Darius Knight and Tin-Tin Ho, who is from Paddington and used to attend St Joseph’s Catholic School in Maida Vale.
