Chandos Tennis Club have qualified for the National Premier Indoor League doubles final after beating last year’s champions, Gosling Sports Park, in a tie-break shoot-out.
Marcus Gan and Oliver Gan narrowly lost both of their matches together on tie-breaks, where the first side to reach 10 points won the ‘third set’ and the match.
They drew 4-6, 6-3 against Gosling’s Marshall Tutu and Jake Muns but lost the tie-break 10-4, and it was the same story against George Coupland and Harry Mabbett – both teams won one set 6-3, but the Gosling pair took the tie-break 10-8.
However, Chandos’ Komlavi Loglo and Gunther Darkey won their clashes against the same pairs, overcoming Tutu and Muns 10-8 on a tie-break and then beating Coupland and Mabbet 6-3,7-6 to make it two matches apiece overall.
One final tie-break was needed to separate the clubs and Oliver Gan teamed up with Loglo to win it 10-5.
