Haringey Rhinos were left with battered bodies after a crushing defeat against London League division three (north west) leaders Ruislip on Saturday.

The Rhinos were trounced 42-0 in shocking weather conditions at New River.

Ruislip scored a try and conversion in the second play of the game before Derek Cordy and Cammy Howson were both injured.

Ruislip added two more tries in the first half to pull 19-0 clear, and only Mike Whitear's try-saving tackle prevented further embarrassment.

The ruthless visitors added four more unanswered tries in the second half to complete comprehensive win.

"My body is currently black and blue from putting myself on the line, like everyone did," said Rhinos' Alan Cooper.

"It was still one of our best games this season against a well- drilled Ruislip pack.

"The lineouts were excellent, tackling was solid and the ball handling was good considering the conditions.

"But seven of the squad were missing from training on Tuesday and some players did not arrive for the fixture at the agreed time."

The defeat leaves Rhinos third from bottom. Tomorrow, Haringey travel to bottom club Bank of England.
