Boss urges Haringey Borough to keep the pedal to the metal in Ryman League play-off hunt

Haringey Borough manager Tom Loizou wants his side to keep their foot firmly on the gas – after a 5-2 win over Great Wakering Rovers sent them into the Ryman League Division One North play-offs.
Goals from Daniel Aristidou, Scott Durojaiye and Anthony McDonald saw Boro race into a 3-1 lead after just 19 minutes and Ralston Gabriel made it four before the break.
And although Rovers pulled one back after half-time, Durojaiye’s second wrapped things up in added time.
It means they have only lost once in the last 11 league games, winning nine of them, a run which has catapulted them to fifth in the table with just six games to go.
And Loizou wants them to keep the momentum going for the remaining games.
He said: “We’ve got to keep our foot on the gas. It’ll only take one game to put us under pressure but we’ve stayed under the radar up until the last few games. And now people are starting to talk about us. That’s where it becomes dangerous.
“We were very fluid and the first three goals were superb. That’s the sort of thing we work on in training and it looked like we were playing a six-a-side game for all three of those goals.”

The victory over Great Wakering saw Haringey play some fine football, especially in the first half, and it looked they would score at will.
And it’s that sort of performance which could carry them to the play-offs, with the boss wanting more of the same when league leaders Brightlingsea Regent visit Coles Park on Saturday.
He said: “It looked easy, it felt easy but we have come unstuck in games like this in the past. And that’s where I need to keep the players’ feet on the floor.
“But we started out in the right frame of mind and the right mood. It wasn’t a polished performance but that’s the nature of players when you find yourself 4-1 up.
“That’s how we want to start in every game we play on this pitch.
“What makes me happy is we left three players out that weren’t ready for this game and that gives me confidence for next week. We’ll measure our progress then.”
