The British No.2, watched by his American coach Brad Gilbert, lost the first set 7-6 (7-4) on the tie-break after leading 2-0.
But Bodganovic hit back to take the second set 6-4 but then lost the third 6-3. The fourth set also went to the tie-break before Bogdanovic again lost it 7-4.
