Belsize Park remain second in the London Division Two North West table and unbeaten after scoring six tries in a commanding 40-7 victory at Stockwood Park.

Man of the match Jamie Niven, whose positional kicking was excellent throughout, was first to cross the whitewash after running from almost the halfway line, and sustained pressure and penalty kicks into the corner resulted in two mauls from the line-out before captain George Hazlett crashed over.

Belsize repeated the act five minutes later as hooker Marcus Pulefale touched down, and centre Jack Newman then took a crashball off Niven to score himself before loosehead prop Eric Trautenmiller went over from another line-out maul as the visitors earned their fifth first-half try.

Hazlett doubled his tally for the day in the second half after a series of direction switches opened up the home side’s defence, and full-back James Russell kicked his fifth successive conversion to take Belsize to the 40-point mark.

Director of rugby Zach Webb said: “The first 50 minutes were excellent, before our concentration efforts slipped. We played our own game, which was focused on territory and defence, and we were clinical when it mattered.”
