Saracens head across the River Severn on Saturday as they look to complete the double over Cardiff Blues in the Heineken Champions Cup.

The north Londoners maintained their unbeaten start to the new campaign with a hard-fought 51-25 victory over the Welsh club on Sunday.

The Pool Three rivals meet again at Cardiff Arms Park on Saturday as Sarries look to edge closer to home advantage in the quarter-finals.

Mako Vunipola will hope he can keep hold of his place in the starting XV for the Allianz Park outfit after returning from injury last weekend.

A calf injury has kept the England prop on the sidelines for eight weeks, but he lasted 59 minutes against Blues before being replaced.

Vunipola was delighted to be back playing for Saracens following his injury, but admits there could have been easier games for him to return in.

“When you’re returning obviously you want to ease your way into it, but my first game back was in Europe where there are no easy games,” he told the club website.

“You always have that awareness of the injury, but once you’re in the game and the heat of it, it kind of goes out the window.

“There’s other stuff obviously, like the scrummaging where you can train all you want, but it’s very hard to get game intensity so I was very happy with the set-piece.

“That was probably my main focus and I was very happy to get the set-piece off to a good start, and the other thing is the physicality of the game.”

Having eventually got the better of Cardiff last weekend, Saracens will head to the Welsh capital full of confidence.

And Vunipola knows the north Londoners must follow that up with another strong display in Europe.

“We are in a good place. We are happy with the results, but the more important thing for us is consistency.

“Every now and then we dip out of games and maybe only for 10 minutes we will be on it in attack or defence.

“When it comes to bigger games, we can’t play half a game against the best sides. That is something we need to work out, which is an exciting thing.

“Results are going well but we are excited at how far we can take it.”

Vunipola will hope he can play his part in another win for Saracens over Cardiff this weekend.
