This classical Georgian home has barely been touched for 70 years
A “time warp” property has gone on sale in Highgate for £3,850,000.
The Holly Terrace property, on the market with estate agents Pickett & Ellis Underhill, was built during the reign of King George III.
Commissioned by Mr John Cooke, it was constructed in 1806 and after a sale in the mid 1900’s has been in the same family for 70 years.
Situated opposite Witanhurst mansion (reportedly the second-largest mansion in the city, after Buckingham Palace), if you were to move into the property your neighbours would include elusive Russian billionaires and celebrities George Michael, Jude Law and Kate Moss.
The Grade II listed house also has fantastic panoramic views over Hampstead Heath due to its location on the summit of Highgate West Hill.
The property is a beautiful example of classical Georgian architecture and retains many of its original features, including wrought iron decorations around its entrance and multi panelled windows.
Unusually the house is the only one in the area that didn’t have its iron facades removed during WW2.
It has five bedrooms and two bathrooms along with a guest area which has its own kitchen.
“Holly Terrace is a really unusual and wonderful secret bit of Highgate because no one really knows where or what it is,” said estate agent Chris Underhill.
“I think the property will be bought by an architectural purist. Someone who will appreciate its design, its style and its nature. It would work very nicely as a generous family house. I’ve got a sneaking feeling the buyer will be a local already.”
