With the tangible combination of the urban and the artistic seeping through Camden Town’s eventful cobbled streets, Galliard Homes has created a development that carefully mirrors this mixture. Taking inspiration from the Manhattan style lofts that grace New York’s busy walkways, Carlow House, an industrial to residential conversion station artfully brings together the trendy and the unconventional, and classic design features with contemporary finishes to carefully modernise loft style living for London.
Located just moments away from Camden Town underground, Carlow House was formerly an Edwardian warehouse, and a collection of office buildings. Now the site has been converted to create 85 loft-style apartments encompassing studio suites, one and two bedroom apartments, all of which feature the loft’s trademark open plan living space, sweeping, high ceilings, and large industrial windows, coming together to illuminate apartments with bright natural light.
The building has been extensively refurbished, with the carefully created interiors, designed by renowned designer Rabih Hage taking on a new ‘rough-lux’ finish, which combines polished and raw textures evident in the exposed brickwork, and industrial inspired brasswork that features throughout the development. Apartments are all kitted out with high technical specifications with video entry system, wiring for Sky+ and hardwood engineered flooring. Dual colour grey and white kitchen have been fitted with Smeg appliances, while bathroom feature brickwork inspired white wall tiles, stone vanity tops, and Victorian style wash basins.
With modernised interiors abound, the exterior of the building offers an interesting twist on the industrial inspired loft-style living with an abundance of greenery that comes courtesy of a vast central winter garden – the largest in London.
The stunning four story atrium, teeming with an array of exotic plants, creates the illusion of a floating urban forest, and includes pathways and well positioned seating so that residents and visitors alike can revel in its beauty.
Over 90 per cent of the homes at Carlow House have now been sold, with just a few remaining, including studio, one-bedroom and two-bedroom apartments.
