A woman is in a life-threatening condition after falling from the back of a Routemaster ‘Boris bus’ as it passed through Kentish Town this morning.

The passenger was rushed to hospital after she fell off the double-decker New Bus for London in Prince of Wales Road at the junction with Malden Crescent at around 7.15am.

The woman suffered a life-threatening head injury when she fell from the route 24 bus, which begins and ends its journey in South End Green, Hampstead.

Transport for London (TfL) confirmed a conductor was present at the back of the bus when the woman fell from the vehicle.

An ambulance crew arrived at the scene to treat the woman, reported to be in her 30s, before taking her to St Mary’s Hospital in Paddington.

Mike Weston, TfL’s director of buses, said: “A passenger was injured after alighting from the rear platform of a New Bus for London on route 24.

“Our first concern is, of course, for the passenger and we can confirm the emergency services attended the scene. There will be a thorough investigation into this incident.”
