A giant screen is to be erected in the heart of King’s Cross again this summer to show Andy Murray try and defend his Wimbledon title.

Strawberries and Screen, which saw a crowd of 4,000 pack into Granary Square last year, returns with an even bigger screen this year - at four metres by four metres.

Sandwiches, jugs of Pimms, beer and soft drinks will all be on sale in surrounding cafes but people are also being urged to come down with their picnics.

It will run from the start of play at Wimbledon on Monday, June 23 to the conclusion of the men’s final on Sunday, July 26.

The screen will be showing the main BBC coverage and will usually be closed at around 8pm, unless a key match is in progress.

Anna Strongman, who oversees the events programme at King’s Cross, said: “If you’re looking for a stunning, central location to watch the tennis then come along to Granary Square for the Strawberries and Screen experience.

“Granary Square is one of the biggest public squares in London - the atmosphere will be the best outside of SW19.

“We want to make this the perfect summer experience.”
