Following the election of Jeremy Corbyn as party leader, Conservatives went on the attack at a full council meeting last week.

Cllr Gio Spinella asked: “Considering the friendships that the leader of the Labour Party has, can we now expect the flag of Hamas to fly over Town Hall?”

Camden Conservative leader Claire Louise Leyland said: “It’s fair to say that many of our colleagues on the benches opposite have been looking a little lost recently.

“They may well find that they have a Labour leader whose beliefs may shift the debate so far to the left that they find themselves ideologically out of touch with their own party.”
