The wild natural beauty of Hampstead Heath is being celebrated in an exhibition at Burgh House.

Photographer Sandrine Joseph, who works under the name Sand-jo, and sculptor Claire Mazurel attended the private view of Mother Nature On Hampstead Heath on November 13 to see their work unveiled to the public.

The show includes atmospheric photographs and willowing sculptures inspired by some of the Heath’s most imposing trees.

Ms Joseph, 47, who lived in Hampstead Village for eight years before moving to Dartmouth Park, said: “I work especially on the shapes of the trees and this exhibition is all about women’s shapes and faces.

“I like to show how you can walk on the Heath and it’s like you’re in an exhibition.

“I see some trees and I see the shapes immediately and I try to translate it by taking pictures.

“There’s something magical definitely, I think all Heath lovers would say that.”

The exhibition also features work from Ms Joseph’s Magic Lantern series of photographs, which are printed on special metallic pearly paper and inspired by techniques used in early silent movies.

The exhibition will be on display at the Peggy Jay Gallery at Burgh House in New End Square, Hampstead, until Friday, November 29.
