LIBRARIES in Camden will begin a new chapter of longer opening hours this new year.

WiFi internet access is also on the agenda to be introduced at Swiss Cottage library.

From January 19, 13 libraries will open for a total of 45 more hours a week giving residents mo-re time to find the information and books they need on week nights.

The move comes after residents listed unsuitable opening hours as their top deterrent to using libraries in a recent consultation.

Cllr Flick Rea, Camden's culture boss, said: "Libraries are important resources for everyone whether for books, research or learning new skills.

"We want our libraries to grow in line with how local residents want to use them, both now and in the future.
