Though local health chiefs have not yet admitted it in public, threats to the Whittington hospital arise because they are trying to implement a confidential report by the McKinsey corporation which recommended cuts of a staggering 20 billions to the NHS.

Though local health chiefs have not yet admitted it in public, threats to the Whittington hospital arise because they are trying to implement a confidential report by the McKinsey corporation which recommended cuts of a staggering 20 billions to the NHS. The report was leaked to the Health Service Journal in September and it also recommended staff cuts of 137,000 jobs.

Several MPs have already taken an active interest in the threats to the Whittington - they need to get the McKinsey report published so that MPs, NHS staff (and not just senior managers) and taxpayers can evaluate this latest management consultant controversy. We have no doubt paid a lot for it. If it is sound, it will stand the light of day. Meanwhile, readers who want to know more should Google Health Service Journal.
