A nine-year-old beauty queen starred in a three hour “zumbathon” on Sunday as she won over a local builder’s merchants to raise money for charity.

Marianna Panunzio was the only child instructor at the contest in West Hampstead as part of the lead-up to a charity beauty contest which will be held in Paris this weekend.

Marianna has been trying to raise money for the Rainbow Child Foundation, a charity which aims to help children in impoverished areas and is sponsoring the Face of the Globe beauty contest where Marianna is a finalist.

Her mother Lorena Panunzio, 49, of Birchington Road, West Hampstead, said: “We went to Moran builders merchants in Kilburn High Road and the guys who work there did a little dance with her and in the space of half an hour she managed to raise £37 from staff and customers.”

Marianna, who attends Sylvia Young Theatre School, said: “It was really fun and I got to wear a builder’s hat.”
