West End Lane Books opened in West Hampstead in 1994.
Whether it’s ghost stories by candlelight or holding an event with the Tower of London’s raven master, the shop’s lineup for the coming week is a real page turner.
It specialises in fiction and children’s books, though it also has a large following for music and history. Manager Kim Morris, 27, of Camden, has worked there for three and a half years, and been in the book industry since she was 17.
Her current read is a book of short stories, Help the Witch by Tom Cox, in the run-up to the shop’s candlelit evening with him tonight (Thu).
On Thursday next week, the shop will welcome The Tower of London’s raven master Christopher Skaife to share a glimpse of his unusual job.
Unknown to many of its customers, publishing house Darf Publishers is tucked beneath the book shop. It puts out a range of translated novels specialising in Arabic.
