SPURS bloodied hero Jonathan Woodgate this week warned "Untouchable" Manchester United - we will retain the Carling Cup.

Woodgate, who scored Tottenham's late winner at Hull on Monday before being forced to leave the field with a head wound, believes Spurs have the character to shock the champions of Europe in Sunday's showdown.

"On our day, we can beat anybody," said Woodgate, who was also Spurs' match-winner in last year's final against Chelsea.

"We have proved that in the past. It is not going to be easy but it won't be easy for United either. We will go there and we will look to lift the trophy again."

Spurs go into the Wembley clash as big underdogs despite Sir Alex Ferguson saying he intends to play the young team that got the Red Devils to the final.

Woodgate, who needed six stitches after a clash of heads with team-mate Vedran Corluka in the 2-1 win at the KC, is determined not the let the cut wreck his chances of playing against United.

Indeed, the former Middlesbrough and Real Madrid defender is more concerned about his team-mates getting the defending right against the Premier League leaders.

"It is about individual errors," he said. "And being willing to put your head on things where it is not necessarily going to be your ball.

"We've got to learn to do that, and we need to learn fast. It's also about organisation as well, so we have to be professionals and start doing a bit of both."

Spurs went into Monday's game a point off the drop zone and Aaron Lennon gave them the ideal start, drilling home after 17 minutes. But Hull levelled 10 minutes when keeper Carlo Cudicini flapped at a corner and Michael Turner stabbed home.

Tottenham looked dangerous in the second half and Corluka headed against the crossbar from Luka Modric's free-kick.

The game appeared to be heading for a 1-1 draw when Woodgate rose with purpose in the area to head Benoit Assou-Ekotto's left-wing cross high into the net.
