A BODY found in Paddington station on Sunday is believed to be that of children's TV presenter Mark Speight, who has been missing since last Monday.

The family of the 42-year-old will formally identify the body today and a post-mortem examination will take place.

The body was discovered at 10am on Sunday in a remote part of Paddington train station.

Officers were called to the scene and confirmed a man's body had been found in a part of the station away from public view.

They have not revealed how he died but did confirm he had not been hit by a train and that they are treating the death as "unexplained".

Mr Speight had been missing for six days after he was last seen boarding an underground train in Queen's Park.

He was said to be devastated after the death of his fiancée Natasha Collins in January.

The 31-year-old was found dead in the bath of the couple's flat in St John's Wood after taking cocaine, alcohol and sleeping pills. An inquest recorded a death by misadventure.

British Transport Police are investigating the death and CCTV from the station has been seized as part of the ongoing investigation.

Jan Kennedy of Billy Marsh Associates, the presenter's agent, said: "We are absolutely devastated at the tragic news of the loss of Mark and our thoughts and prayers go out to his family as well as the family of his beloved fiancée, Natasha, whose equally tragic death had affected him so inconsolably.

"Caring and compassionate in everything he did, Mark was truly gifted in life and we are proud to have represented him as a friend and client for almost 20 years.

"He was blessed with a remarkable personality, great artistic talents and the wonderful warm ability to communicate those skills with people, especially children of all ages.

"With his sensitivity of spirit, coupled with his dynamic presence and natural enthusiasm, he was loved and respected by his adoring family, friends and colleagues everywhere in the media - who like us, are all deeply shocked and distressed at this saddest of news.
