Tube murder victim knew suspect, police believe
POLICE investigating the murder on the tracks of King’s Cross station last night believe the victim and the suspect knew each other.
British Transport police were called to King’s Cross at 6.30pm yesterday following reports of a person under a Piccadilly line train.
A middle-aged man, reported to be a transvestite, died after he was apparently pushed onto the tracks in front of hundreds of rush hour commuters.
A 34-year-old woman from the Cricklewood area was arrested by police after she was restrained by a man on the platform until officers arrived.
She remains in custody for questioning. A murder investigation has been launched and police are working to identify the man and trace his next of kin,
Detective Superintendent Ashley Croft, senior investigating officer, said: “Early indications from witnesses are that the victim and the suspect knew each other.
“Following the incident a man on the platform detained the woman by restraining her until police arrived.

“The woman remains in custody and is being held on suspicion of murder.
“We are also in the process of viewing CCTV from the station and interviewing several witnesses who came forward last night.
“It’s really important that we build the clearest possible picture of what took place on the platform and I ask anyone who may have seen the incident to contact us.”
He added: “I would like to thank passengers for their patience and understanding, as well as all of the London Underground staff who assisted the emergency services in dealing with what happened in a professional and dignified manner. Incidents like this are extremely rare on the Tube.”
