A 22 year old, who has defied medical odds after surviving a brain tumour three times since he was a child is holding a fundraising event in Camden.
Courageous Chandos Green is hoping to raise money for the Brain Tumour Charity at an event at the Cereal Killer Cafe in Camden in November.
Chandos was first diagnosed with a tumour at the young age of three years old but it returned once again at the age of six.
He was diagnosed for a third time in his first year at Chichester University, where he studied social work, and graduates next month.
Chandos’ most recent brain operation was in July 2014.
He first became involved in the Brain Tumour charity three years ago, when the charity asked Chandos to join their young ambassador program. He has since become a young ambassador for the charity.
He said: “When I received my diagnosis as a child, I would not have thought I could have achieved half the things I have done. I mean not every day is easy, and sometimes it can feel like I take two steps back for every step forward - but, in all honestly, it’s the work of the Brain Tumour Charity that means people can receive a diagnosis quicker, get better support and overcome barriers easier.”
“So many young people and adults suffer and live with the severe impact of having a brain tumour, whilst also dealing with side-effects and other health conditions.
“I feel passionate about helping to combat cancer as I know it is something we can beat, but I know its something that won’t happen over night or without the funding!”
Life expectancy of those with a brain tumour is on average 20 years less than someone without – the highest of any cancer.
The Brain Tumour Charity predicts that at least 102,000 children and adults are living with a brain tumour in the UK today.
The fundraiser in Camden Town will consist of live music from up and coming performers, and there will also be a raffle with the opportunity to win signed photos from celebrities.
It will take place on November 27 from 8pm-10pm at the Cereal Killer Cafe in Camden Market, N16 7UY
Tickets can be bought at Eventbrite.
The event is for over 18s. Please bring ID.
If you would like to attend, it is preferable that you purchase your tickets as soon as possible.
