Tribute has been paid to Haringey's schools after another significant improvement in exam results across the borough.
Assembly Member Joanne was among the first to acknowledge the hard work of schools and pupils in Haringey as she welcomed the ongoing improvement in GCSE results.
Figures released today show a massive improvement and. Haringey Schools now have the 7th best improvement over the past 10 years
The percentage of pupils achieving 5 or more A*-C grades has moved from 26.6% in 1998 to 58.8% in 2008. This is an increase of 32.2% over the past decade.
Joanne McCartney said, "These are very positive results that build on the improvements of the last decade. I congratulate pupils and schools in Haringey on their hard work. Five higher level GCSEs with the all-important English and maths passes are a good academic achievement, so let's give credit where credit is due.
"The long-term trend is one of sustained improvement. More young people in Haringey than ever before have now got a firm foundation for further education, apprenticeships or the work based training that they want to do.
