RESIDENTS were alarmed to discover a huge tree had fallen hazardously into a road in Hampstead on Friday night.
The fallen timber, which seemed to have rotted from the inside, was discovered on Saturday morning lying across the junction of Maresfield Gardens and Nutley Terrace near the Freud Museum.
Derek Farnworth, who lives near the junction of Arkwright Road and Lindfield Gardens, said: “I was going down to the market and as I cut through on my bike I saw this huge tree in the road. Apparently it fell overnight.
“If anyone had been standing on the corner they would be seriously dead. You wonder how many other trees in Camden are in this condition.”
