THE number of pupils achieving A* and A GCSE grades at a Muswell Hill School is almost twice the national average.

A fantastic 42 percent of pupils scored the top two grades at GCSE at Fortismere compared to the national average of 22 percent.

Three pupils in particular will be celebrating this morning after scoring 11 straight A* grades.

The school also saw their results improve overall.

Three quarters of pupils achieved the government benchmark of five A* to C grades including English and maths this year, three percent up on 2009's figures.

Again, 99 percent of pupils passed their exams, as they did last year.
