A Jewish food festival, a Routemaster tour of north London and a talk on Shakespeare by acclaimed author Ben Crystal are just some of the things featured in our top five this week.

1. Sunday - Gefiltefest

The UK’s largest Jewish food festival is back at the London Jewish Cultural Centre in North End Road, Golders Green, with more than 50 different events.

The one-day festival includes hands-on cookery workshops, celeb demos, lectures, tastings, food stalls, and a kids-only programme.

Attending will be Gefiltefest’s founding patron Claudia Roden, the award-winning cookbook author Joan Nathan and Israeli TV chef Gil Hovav.

Runs from 10am to 6pm. Prices vary. Visit ljcc.org.uk or call 020 8457 5000.

2. Saturday - Belle Costumes

Visit Kenwood House to see four exquisite costumes from the 2014 film Belle - out in UK cinemas this week. The film tells the story of Dido Belle, the mixed race niece of Lord Mansfield, and her time living at Kenwood House in the 18th century. It stars Miranda Richardson, Matthew Goode, Emily Watson and Gugu Mbatha-Raw.

Free exhibition. Runs from 10am to 5pm, until July 2.

3. Wednesday - Bard Talk

Actor and writer Ben Crystal comes to St Mary’s Church, Elsworthy Road, Primrose Hill, for a talk on Shakespeare.

The acclaimed author of Shakespeare on Toast has pioneered the performance of Shakespeare’s plays in original pronunciation and argues for a more radically contextualised appreciation of our national poet.

Starts 7.30pm. Tickets £12 (£10 concs). Visit stmarysprimrosehill.com to book.

4.Saturday - Routemaster Tour

In celebration of the Year of the Bus - and for the second year in a row - the National Trust has organised tours of north London on heritage 1962 Routemaster buses. Tours last approximately two to three hours, with stops along the way. The exploration will be guided by Guardian journalist Tanya Gold.

In addition, the National Trust has also organised The Goldfinger Bus Tour, on the trail of famous architect and furniture designer Ernö Goldfinger. Led by Royal College of Art lecturer and architectural historian Joe Kerr, the tour gives an insight into the life and major works of the architect, including his recently-reopened house in Willow Road, Hampstead. This takes place on June 21.

All tours start and end at 20 Grosvenor Gardens, Victoria. Tickets £20 for adults (£16 concs).

5. Saturday and Sunday - Open Garden Weekend

Open Garden Squares Weekend returns this week to celebrate hidden and little-known gardens across London. This year, 31 gardens in Camden are taking part, including three new to the weekend.

Visitors are invited to explore gardens ranging from historic traditional squares to experimental contemporary spaces, community allotments, tranquil idylls and urban wildlife sanctuaries. The popular Bloomsbury Walks will also take place over the weekend.
