HIGHLIGHT OF THE WEEK

Kenwood House

Last week saw the re-opening of 17th century former stately home Kenwood House on Hampstead Heath. The neo-classical house was built in 1616 and remodelled for the Earl of Mansfield, William Murray, a key figure in pushing for the abolishment of slavery.

Following several additions to the grounds - including a library, brewery and a dairy - it was eventually donated to the nation in 1927 by Lord Iveagh, a member of the Guinness family.

Following the successful completion of renovations over the past year - including repairs to the roof and exterior and a major reworking of the Robert Adam interiors - visitors will once again be able to enjoy stunning views over London while having tea and cakes at the much-loved Brew House cafe.

Also back will be its world-renowned collection of artwork following a tour around the United States.
