Campaigners are calling for the removal of a colony of seagulls after the birds blighted the area with early-morning squawking and bird mess.
Sleep-deprived residents have been pushed to the brink of despair in recent months as the population of seagulls grew to around 30.
The sea birds have set up camp on the rooftops of homes in St John’s Grove and Pemberton Gardens near the Whittington Hospital.
Alex Randall, from St John’s Grove, has formed the Anti Seagull Committee and is gathering support to have his unwelcome neighbours shipped out of the area.
The 34-year-old IT manager, who has been living in the area for two years, said: “The squawking is just unbearable. People think there is a zoo nearby when they come to visit and it starts at about 3am or 4am and you can’t get back to sleep.
“There is also bird mess everywhere. The seagulls have managed to kick out the pigeons, but they’re much bigger so you can imagine the mess they make.”
Islington Cllr Ursula Woolley has offered to help the campaign.
No-one at the council was available for comment when the Ham&High went to press.
