The family of stabbed schoolboy Martin Dinnegan stormed out of court after three teenagers were cleared of his murder.

Martin's parents Lorraine and James were shocked on Friday when the Old Bailey jury cleared Sean Clark, 19, Rene John-Baptiste, 21, and a 17-year-old of murder while a 16-year-old was convicted.

Mrs Dinnegan shouted "spit on him" as Clark hugged the 16-year-old before being escorted from the dock to be discharged. Several jurors were also in tears and one asked to leave the courtroom at the conclusion of the two-month trial.

Martin, a pupil at St Aloysius College in Highgate, was chased and stabbed to death near his home in June last year.

The 14-year-old bled to death in his brother's arms after being knifed in the back by the 16-year-old, who cannot be named for legal reasons.

The judge, Common Serjeant of London Brian Barker QC, will sentence on August 8.
