Thousands of unregistered voters across Camden, Barnet and Haringey have responded to calls to register in time to vote in next month’s general election.
The deadline for voter registration for the May 7 election was midnight on Monday and all three of the borough’s councils ran campaigns to encourage as many eligible voters as possible to register.
Earlier this month, the Ham&High also launched a campaign urging readers to make sure their voice is counted.
Since late February, nearly 12,000 people have registered to vote in Hampstead and Kilburn and Holborn and St Pancras.
Over the weekend, Camden Council recorded 3,500 applications from residents to register ahead of Monday’s cut-off point.
Since March, Barnet Council has recorded 2,282 registrations from voters in Finchley and Golders Green.
Haringey Council was unable to specify an exact figure for recent registrations as the Ham&High went to press but believe “thousands” of voters in Hornsey and Wood Green have registered since January.
