The former frontman of band The Streets, Mike Skinner, took to the decks to DJ at a school’s fireworks night where more than 1,000 people braved wet weather and Glastonbury-like mud for the display.
A downpour nearly put a stop to Highgate School’s first fireworks festival before it had even begun but experts were on hand to save the day to ensure the lights show, set to a soundtrack of classic film theme songs, went ahead.
Highgate School parent Mr Skinner played a half-hour set of tunes to the crowds on the night, which raised money for three chosen charities.
Sara Dein, chairman of the fireworks committee, said: “We very much hope that this event will join the long standing festivities that embodies the spirit and culture of this wonderful school.”
