It is often said imitation is the sincerest form of flattery - so the Ham&High was delighted to learn a new mystery walking tour has named a murder suspect after none other than this newspaper.

Touring company Treasure Trails has set up spy missions, detective mysteries and treasure hunts across the city, guiding resident adventurers through their local area with clues taken from the surroundings.

And among the suspects are Albert Hamhigh and Barry Woodvale, named in honour of the Ham&High and sister paper the Wood&Vale.

But unusually organisers have included the characters in the Notting Hill mystery walk rather than the one taking place in Hampstead.

Perhaps the clue writers are in a need of a hint themselves?

On the Hampstead trail, misbehaving youngster ‘Eammon Trouble’ threatens to turn the hamsters of Hampstead into giant rodents if trail walkers don’t complete their mission in time.

Kathy Brown, who designed the London trails, said: “The tours are a way for people to explore different areas of London on their own time.

“We want to draw people’s attention to the local history of their area and our clues also encourage treasure hunters to go to new and interesting places that they may not know about.”

Highgate is not left out.

On its mystery walk wealthy actress, Ivana Bealone has left her estate to the people of Highgate, but it’s up to residents to find out where.

I’ll give you a head start. Go to the anagram of “Ian Gunta” spotted on a Highgate plaque. Get hunting, treasure seekers!
