Finchley and Golders Green MP Mike Freer held a celebratory event on September 6 for young people who attended his summer school programme.

Around 20 children and their parents went to parliament and inside the jubilee room, Mr Freer handed out certificates before giving a guided tour of the House of Commons.

Mr Freer’s summer programme is into it’s fourth year now. The three day programme is for students across schools in Finchley and Golders Green.

In July, the pupils visited parliament and watched a live debate, and then had a tour of the Supreme Court. In the constituency, they researched and held their own debate, which Mr Freer chaired, on the issue of student loans.

Mr Freer said: ““I was very impressed with the hard work the young people put in. The summer school is designed to give local young people an insight into the world of politics and they really rose to the challenge.”
