SPURS skipper Robbie Keane this week insisted: We are not safe yet.

Tottenham go into Saturday'S clash against Blackburn at Ewood Park nine points clear of the relegation zone following their outstanding win over Chelsea in their last Premier League game.

Although the Lilywhites are close to the 40-point mark and just three points away from seventh spot - a likely European spot next season - Keane (pictured) is refusing to look too far ahead.

"The priority has to be safety first and foremost," said Keane, who last night was set to skipper Ireland in a World Cup qualifIer against Italy.

"Once we get to that mark we'll look to get as high up the table as possible. Then, the real work starts for next year.

"I can't think of another year when, at the end of March, you have as many people in the street talking about relegation as you do Europe. But whatever happens, and as a team, we will be doing our best to ensure that over the closing weeks of the season we give 110 per cent, absolutely."

Keane is enjoying his football since returning to the Lane from Liverpool in January and admits he wants to play in Europe again.

"I'm the same as all the players here - we just want to win," he said. "You can never look forward more than a game at a time. That's not to say I don't dream of winning trophies and playing in Europe or in the World Cup again - that should be the dream of every footballer.

"And I'm convinced that at club and international level those opportunities will come again."

Keane also said he was not surprised that Aaron Lennon was back in the England team. The winger played the first half of England's 4-0 romp over Slovakia on Saturday. "I've always been an admirer of Aaron from a long time ago," said Keane. "England don't have a player like him. They have no winger who can come in and a change a game with pace.
