TOTTENHAM are poised to announce their first summer signing, with Croatia international goalkeeper Stipe Pletikosa arriving at White Hart Lane.

The 31-year-old, who has made over 80 appearances for his country, will join Spurs on a season-long loan from Spartak Moscow, with the option for a permanent move next summer.

Pletikosa, who will become the fourth Croatian international at the club, was on the verge of signing for Tottenham last summer before a knee injury scuppered the deal.

Harry Redknapp already has two senior goalkeepers in Heurelho Gomes and Carlo Cudicini, who was given a one-year contract extension earlier in the summer. However, the Spurs boss believes that he will need three top-class custodians as his squad prepares to fight on four fronts.

Ben Alnwick is set to quit Tottenham while 21-year-old David Button, who played the second half of last week's 4-1 defeat to Villarreal, joined League One side Plymouth Argyle on a season-long loan yesterday.

Meanwhile, Adel Taarabt's three-year spell at Spurs is set to end this week in a permanent move to Championship outfit QPR.

The 21-year-old Morocco international has already made over 50 appearances for Rangers, having joined them on loan in March 2009 and finished the campaign in west London, before spending the whole of the 2009/10 season at Loftus Road.

The frustratingly over-elaborate midfielder joined Spurs from Lens in June 2007, declining advances from Arsenal after Damien Comolli left his scouting post with the Gunners to become Tottenham's sporting director.

Taarabt has made just 15 first-team appearances for Spurs under Martin Jol and Redknapp and, back in March, he revealed his regret over joining Spurs - as well as his desire to play for one of Spain's biggest clubs.

"The big mistake was to sign for Tottenham and not go to another club when I first came over," he said. "I hope to be playing for one of the top four in Spain next season - Real Madrid, Barcelona, Valencia or Sevilla. I have contact with good teams and I know that they want me."

Redknapp has always admitted that Taarabt has exciting potential but he has finally decided to cut his losses, instructing chairman Daniel Levy to accept a cut-price fee from Neil Warnock's QPR.
