JUANDE Ramos is close to sorting out Tottenham's goalkeeping dilemma by landing PSV Eindhoven's Heurelho Gomes.

The Spurs boss has been looking at replacements for Paul Robinson and the Brazilian is top of his list.

Gomes was instrumental in helping PSV knock the Lilywhites out of the Uefa Cup back in March with a string of top-class saves in both legs.

Tottenham have also been linked this week with Blackburn's unsettled midfielder David Bentley. The former Gunner favours a return to London.

Meanwhile, Fiorentina are claiming Spurs have agreed a £4million fee for midfielder Mario Santana.

Santana has fallen out of favour with Fiorentina and the Italians claim Spurs have moved for the the 26-year-old.

Fiorentina sporting director Pantaleo Corvino says Spurs have agreed to pay five million euros for the Argentine, although Tottenham say no deal has been reached.

"It is a figure that satisfies us because Santana does not feature in our plans for the 2008/09 season," said Corvino.

"I expect Santana to join Spurs within the next few days as he has been offered a three or four-year contract in London."

Gael Clichy says he was never tempted to leave Arsenal after signing a new long-term deal committing him to the Gunners until 2012.

Serie A giants AS Roma and Juventus were both keen to talk to the France defender, but the Toulouse-born left-back - who just missed out on a place in Les Bleus' Euro 2008 squad - had no intention of quitting the Emirates.

"I told my agents that I did not want to talk about anything because my goal was to stay at Arsenal," he said this week.

"I know that there were all the big Italian clubs but these are not things that interest me."

His decision to extend his contract means both fullbacks are tied to long-term contracts, after right-back Bacary Sagna signed an improved deal at the end of last season.
