A petition to save a crepe stand from closure attracted hundreds of signatures within hours of going live.

Some 600 people have now added their names – along with heartfelt messages of support – to the petition to keep open the La Creperie de Hampstead in Hampstead Village.

The popular food stand could be facing closure after 33 years in the High Street after a row erupted with the pub next door, the King William IV, which hosts the crepe stand’s fridge and water supply.

The petition, launched by the Hampstead Shops Campaign, calls for the pub’s management, Eat Pubs Ltd, to “work out a way of co-existing with the creperie which leaves it to enjoy its business”.

It also urges the pub’s freeholder, Heineken-owned Star Pubs & Bars, to grant a new lease.

One backer, Olivia Rothseid, wrote: “La Creperie de Hampstead is one of my fondest memories from my childhood. It is a landmark and an institution in Hampstead.”

The petition can be found at www.ipetitions.com/petition/save-la-creperie-de-hampstead.
