A STRATEGY consultant from Hampstead has been appointed as chairman of the Royal Free Hospital.

Dominic Dodd, who has been interim chairman of the trust since June 2009, has been confirmed in the role for the next four years.

He said: "I start from the perspective of being a local resident. I think the Royal Free is a fantastic asset for the community here. It's one of the best places to be treated, clinically, in the country - the lowest mortality rates in the land right here on our doorstep.

"There's plenty of room for improvement especially in terms of patient experience which we need to work on. I'm interested in working with everyone at the Royal Free across the board to do this.
