A retired economist has lost her appeal against a fine for parking at a bus stop to drop off a frail pensioner.
Xenia Wall branded Camden Council ‘inhuman’ after she received a £130 parking ticket for stopping at a bus stop at the top of Haverstock Hill, Belsize Park, on June 6.
She argued she had been fined for a doing a good deed and challenged the fine on the grounds that she was trying to deliver her 77-year-old passenger as close as possible to a shop next to the bus stop.
She wanted to save the passenger from extra walking as she suffered from severe arthritis and was recovering from a bout of pneumonia.
But the Parking and Traffic Appeals Service rejected the appeal.
Adjudicator Michael Burke said: “There is no exemption to allow a private car to stop on a bus stop for a passenger to board or alight.”
