HOMEOWNERS in Camden stand to make a killing by renting out their driveways to commuters.

A survey found the area's driveways were the fourth most expensive in London after the average cost of hiring one shot up by more than £400 in the past year to £2,878.

"As the credit crunch has bitten, commuters are desperate to cut parking costs by renting driveways, and homeowners are very keen to make money by renting their drives out," said survey author Charles Cridland.

Only Westminster, Kensington and Chelsea and Hammersmith and Fulham have more expensive driveways, while at the other end of the scale those in Harrow are a bargain at £750.
