Sixty people involved in Camden’s thriving alternative theatre scene in the 1960s and 70s reunited for an evening of reminiscence on Saturday.
Members of the Inter-Action Trust, which organised cultural and community events in the borough until the 1980s, reunited at Kentish Town Community Centre in Busby Place for a talk looking back on the organisation’s work.
Founded by Ed Berman, MBE, in 1968, the Inter-Action Trust was behind dozens of arts and community initiatives, such as the first city farm in Kentish Town and the Fun Art Bus, a mobile theatre.
The talk and accompanying exhibition is the culmination of research by the organisation Unfinished Histories, which last year received nearly £60,000 of lottery funding to explore the history of Camden’s drama groups in the 1960s, 70s and 80s.
Cathy Crawford, chairman of Kentish Town Community Centre, said: “It was a proud and moving occasion.”
