A Regent’s Park estate agent who drove a go-kart non-stop for 24 hours has found out he is a world record holder almost two years after the event,

Howard Kayman, 45, raised 10,000 for the Help for Heroes charity when he drove 1,054.34 miles around the Teeside Karting Circuit in Middlesbrough in August 2010.

Mr Kayman, who has worked in the Aston Chase Regent’s Park office for 15 years, said: “I didn’t think anything about it because I was just focused on the charity and nothing else.

“Suddenly a friend told me he had looked at the record and I had broken it.

“I checked it out and I had beaten the past record by 200 miles.”

Mr Kayman, from Borehamwood, now has an official certificate from Guinness World Records confirming his feat of “the greatest distance karting by an individual in 24 hours”.

Now that he has a taste of world record success, Mr Kayman says his next goal is to break the 48-hour go-karting record which is currently just 1,248 miles held by a South African karter.
