The North London Waste Authority plans to double current recycling rates in an effort to cut the amount of waste going to landfill and incineration.
The authority handles waste disposal for seven boroughs including Camden, Barnet and Haringey.
The proposals include four new household waste and recycling centres, new sorting facilities, a new composting plant and a system for using recovered material to produce heat and electricity.
