It was a dog’s life in Primrose Hill on Saturday as celebrities swarmed to the annual Pup Aid dog show.

Countdown’s Rachel Riley and her Strictly Come Dancing boyfriend Pasha Kovalev showed their puppy love by attending the event to raise awareness of the cruel practice of puppy farming

S Club Seven’s Jo O’Meara, X Factor’s Matt Cardle, Stereo Kicks’ Reece Bibby and Pup aid patron Meg Mathews with daughter Anais Gallagher were among the stars who lapped up the fun at the show.

Founded by TV Vet Marc Abraham, Pup Aid raises awareness and money in an attempt to stop puppy farming, where dogs are bred in dark, dank conditions and often left with incurable and infectious diseases.

The charity has also won the support of comedian Ricky Gervais, actor Peter Egan and Liam Gallagher.

Marc Abraham said: “Puppy farming is the mass commercial production of puppies purely for profit and without a thought for the welfare or happiness of the pup, breeding bitch or stud dogs.

“Breeding dogs and pups are usually kept in horrific dark conditions,..These poorly pups are then sold en masse to pet shops, online or from free newspaper ads and usually die soon after reaching their new home.”

Dogs competed for titles such as best ‘golden oldie’, most handsome dog and the dog which looks most like a celebrity.
