Fire brigade and Thames Water stop the flow of water after two Avenue Road blocks of flats were affected by flooding in the basements.
Six fire engines and around 35 firefighters and officers were called following a burst water main on Avenue Road.
The burst main caused the road to flood for around half a mile to a depth of around six inches.
The ground floor and basement car park of a block of flats was affected, flooding to a depth of around six feet. Another car park in a neighbouring block of flats was flooded to around six inches.
Twenty five people were carried from their homes and moved temporarily to nearby houses.
Station Manager Matt Burrows, at the scene, said: “Crews pumped away water and carried residents from the flat most affected by the flooding and we sand-bagged other properties to protect them as much as we can.”
Six fire engines from West Hampstead, Paddington, Euston and Kentish Town fire stations were at the scene.
The fire brigade was called at 05.33am and the incident was over by 12.12pm.
A Thames Water spokeswoman said it received approximately 130 calls from residents whose water supply was affected by the burst main.
She said: “We’ve now stemmed the flow of water from the burst pipe and the excess water in the road is draining away. “Water pressures in the area are improving so our next step is to clean the silt from the road and plan how best to repair the pipe with minimum disruption.
“We’re sorry to everyone who has been affected by this morning’s burst.”
