A former Haringey Council leader suspended for bringing the council into disrepute during the doomed sale of Alexandra Palace has suffered a further rebuke.

Cllr Charles Adje, who was suspended in March for four months for his part in the saga, has been reprimanded by the Alexandra Palace and Park Board for falling “very far short of the standard of conduct expected of a Chair and Trustee of the Alexandra Palace and Park Board”.

Cllr Adje, who was controversially admitted back into the Labour Party last month, was suspended after it emerged that property developer Firoka were given permission to run Alexandra Palace on a 125 year lease in 2007 in a bid to make money from the historic landmark.

The company were evicted by the council in 2008, but during their occupation all of the charitable trust’s profits were given to the company.

An independent report into the dispute estimated that the charitable trust lost £1.5million because of the deal.

The Ham&High was unable to contact Cllr Adje.
